KHSS grew from the same soil as Kerala’s backwaters and classrooms—green, generous, and quietly stubborn about dignity. We carry forward what our elders taught: that education is sacred, and that a neighbour’s child is never “someone else’s” problem.

Who we are

We are teachers, parents, students, and neighbours who decided that hope should be worked for, not waited for. KHSS is volunteer-led: no distant boardroom, no faceless brand—just people who show up for tuition circles, for community drives, and for the hard, unglamorous act of following through when a family is overwhelmed.
We carry Kerala’s memory of reading under the monsoon, of shared feasts, and of faiths and languages living side by side. That is who we are—not perfect, but present; not loud, but loyal to the next generation.

Why we exist

Every year, families still have to choose between a fee and a full month’s peace. Young people still carry potential that outruns opportunity. Loneliness still hides inside crowded homes. We exist because that gap is not acceptable to us—because Vidya Daanam (the gift of learning) should be within reach of every child willing to try, and because Sahodaryam (fellowship—walking beside one another) turns scattered goodwill into a fabric that actually holds.
We are not here to “rescue” from above. We are here to stand alongside: with resources, with time, with the steady message that a whole community is invested in a student’s success.

How we work

We work in the open. Programmes are shaped with volunteers and partners; priorities listen to the ground, not to vanity metrics. We co-operate with schools, local leaders, and organisations when it serves families—and we move with urgency when someone cannot afford to wait for the next big plan.
